A Guatemalan man pleaded guilty to misleading a police investigation last Thursday in connection to a body that was found in a cardboard box in July.
Jose Milthon Freddy Azurdia-Montenegro, 55, will now return to Guatemala after appearing in Plymouth Superior Court in Brockton on Thursday on charges of misleading a police investigation, according to his defense attorney Elliot M. Weinstein. Weinstein said Azurdia-Montenegrodecided to plead guilty after “concluding that was in his best interest.”
Prosecutors from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office sought two to three years in state prison for Azurdia-Montenegro, according to Bridget Norton Middleton, spokeswoman to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz.
“The court gave him 102 days,” Middleton said. “He had done his time and was released.”
