A routine traffic stop last week led to the arrest of a sex offender to had failed to register as such.
On the morning of Friday, Dec. 6, Duxbury Police Officer Andrew Homestead observed a truck operating on West Street with the taillights off and stopped the truck.
The truck was operated by Kristian Johnson, 53, of Marshfield. A computer check revealed Johnson had a suspended driver’s license and was a Level III sex offender who had failed to register for several years, according to records. Johnson's driver's license restricted him to only operate vehicles with an ignition interlock device, which is a device on the dashboard that acts as a breathalyzer for the operator. The truck he was driving did not have the device.
Officer Homestead placed Johnson under arrest for operating after suspension and failing to register as a sex offender. Johnson was also cited for defective equipment. He was held without bail and was transported to Plymouth District Court for arraignment Friday morning.
