Superintendent of schools Benedict Tantillo has been selected as this year’s Massachusetts Computer Using Educators Administrator Award and received the award on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at a conference for educators from around the Commonwealth.
The award is given to a Massachusetts administrator in recognition for visionary leadership in the field of educational technology. The requirements are that the educator’s efforts are above and beyond his or her responsibilities to provide inspiration to fellow administrators and educators.
Tantillo was selected based on his ability to act as a catalyst for advancing the use of technology. Other criteria for selection included demonstrating exceptional vision in leading the development and implementation of a district-wide technology plan, ensuring resources are equally distributed among students and staff, insisting adequate professional development is a component of every technology initiative and promoting safe, legal and ethical usage of the technology.
