George W. Johnson has received the 2013 President’s Volunteer Service Award for donating nearly 20,000 hours of his time to the community.
The award recognizes Americans who inspire others to engage in volunteer service by demonstrating their com- mitment to volunteerism. Win- ners receive an official pin, certificate of achievement and a congratulatory letter from the president of the United States.
As a leader of the Duxbury Kiwanis Club, he volunteered his time to build an addition to the home of a wheelchair- bound child and constructed a child-safe playground at the Chandler School. He has also volunteered as a coach and league leader for youth foot- ball.
