Former Duxbury and Cohasset Police Chief involved in motorcycle accident in RocklandFormer Duxbury and Cohasset Police Chief Mark Deluca remains in stable condition after a motorcycle accident in Rockland on Friday.
Rockland Police responded to several 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Pond St. and Hingham St. in Rockland at approximately 1:28 p.m. on Friday, July 12. Callers reported the crash involved a motorcycle and a Volvo SUV.
The operator of the motorcycle, Mark M. Deluca, sustained serious injuries from the accident and was transported to South Shore Hospital. Deluca was then transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he was listed in stable condition. The operator of the SUV, Susan L. Siegel-McKelvey, was no injured in the crash.
In a press release from the Rockland Police Department, police said, based on information gained at the scene, the motorcycle was traveling north on Hingham Street in Rockland and drove through the intersection, where it collided with the SUV as the vehicle was making a left hand turn onto Pond Street.
Due to the severit of the accident, the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to assist in the investigation of the crash. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
