It’s very rare when the Duxbury boys’ tennis team loses two matches in a week. It’s also rare when it face its two toughest opponents in the same week.
That led to a pair of defeats for the Dragons last week when they lost to Hingham and Cape Cod Academy by identical 3-2 scores. Things were looking good for the Dragons when Peter Muncey knocked off Hingham senior Rohan Rav, 6-0/6-2, and classmate Connor O’Keefe took care of senior Matt Port, 6-0/7-5.
One win in the final three matches would put a victory in the win column for Duxbury, but it never materialized, as freshman Freddie Clifford fell to Hingham sophomore, Reese Linton, 7-5/6-3, leaving it up to the Dragons’ doubles.
Duxbury’s Erik Schneider and Will Kingsbury took it on the chin against Hingham junior John Alessi and senior Josh Port, 6-1/6-3, while Will Triebel and Kevin Coakley lost to Hingham junior John Pellisier and sophomore Sam Krivenholt at second doubles, 6-4/6-0.
