Nicole Hanrahan battled through a three-game set at No. 3 singles to lead the Lady Dragons to a 4-1 win over Silver Lake in Patriot League action last Thursday.
Hanrahan took a 6-4 first-set win over Abby Haugstad, then faltered in the second-set with a 2-6 loss. The senior battled back with a gritty 6-3 win in the third set for the victory. First singles Kelly Dame (10) vs. Taylor Griffa 3/6 2/6.
The other singles win for Duxbury was junior Meghan O’Neal over Jeili Merrill, 6-4/6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Duxbury completed the win with a doubles sweep of sophomore Brooke McCarthy and senior Caroline Phinney over Sam Crespi and Alison Boerger, 6-3/6-4, at No. 1 doubles, followed by senior Anna McGeady and freshman Sarah Palfrey taking care of Ellizabeth Gallagher and Megan Saviano, 6-4/6-3 at No. 2 doubles
On Friday the girls travelled to North Quincy and suffered their second defeat of the season at the hands of the Red Raiders and the Sullivan sisters.
Elizabeth Sullivan defeated Dame at No. 1 singles, 1-6/0-6, while sister Sara Sullivan took care of O’Neal, 1-6/0-6 at No. 2 singles. North Quincy was able to sweep the singles and the match when Mallory DeVoe beat Hanrahan, 2-6/0-6.
The Lady Dragons were able to escape with some respectability by sweeping the doubles behind McCarthy and Phinney’s win at No. 1, 4-6/6-2/tiebreaker (10-8), and McGeady and Palfrey’s 6-3/7-5 victory at No. 2.
