Senior Brayden Minahan returned to action after suffering a broken left wrist two weeks ago to lead the No. fifth-seeded Dragons to a 5-0 opening round win over No. 12 seeded Walpole. The victory sent Duxbury on to Millis on Monday at the Glen Ellen Country Club where they faced No. 4 seeded Medfield (16-2).
Minahan showed he has remarkable recuperative powers, as he wiped out Matt Fuller, 6-0/6-0 to give Duxbury a 1-0 lead at No. 1 singles, while No. 2 Peter Muncey was equally effective with a 6-0/6-1 win over Joe Guidoboni.
Junior Conor O’Keefe completed the singles sweep with a 6-1/6-1 over Alex Fraser at No. 3 singles.
In doubles action, Kevin Coakley and Eric Schneider took care of Alex DiSciollo and Ryan Herlihy, 6-2/6-2, at No. 1, while Will Triebel and Willy Kingsbury triumphed over Pat McKernan and Mike Cofsky, 6-3/6-3.
