The DHS girls’ golf team remains unbeaten after a pair of wins over Barnstable and Silver Lake last week left them with a 6-0 record, while qualifying them for the MIAA State tournament.
The team opened up the second half of its schedule on Monday when they traveled to Newton Country Day, and on Wednesday afternoon they resume their Mass Bay South League schedule with Dennis-Yarmouth, whom they defeated 5-1 in the second match of the year.
In last Tuesday’s showdown with undefeated Barnstable, it was a tense struggle for the Lady Dragons, who managed to escape with a 3.5-2.5 victory.
Senior captain Briana Connolly beat Shay McCordy at No. 1 with a 4-up victory that included three pars, while partner Cassidy Goldner lost to Jackie Francis 2-down, while bagging a pair of pars.
Duxbury’s next pair kept the match close, as Francis Anne McDonald had a 2-up win over Caroline Snow at No. 4, and Kara Falcone lost to Alex Williams 3-down to keep the match tied at 2-2.
Senior Devon Tsinzo was a 2-up victor over Molly Marcotte at No. 6 to give the Lady Dragons a 3-2 lead, and Allie Martin gave Duxbury the half-point win by tying Sophie Sylvia at No. 5.
It was back to normal on Wednesday, as Duxbury dominated play in a 6-0 win over Silver Lake. Goldner’s 4-up win over Laurie Grasso led the way, while Connolly was equally adept with three pars in a 3-up win over Meghan Hurley.
Falcone had a win over Brenna Roche, while McDonald won her match 3-up over Rachel Morgan at No. 4 and Martin was a 3-up winner at No. 5.
Tsinzo wrapped up the win with a 2-up victory over Devin Parker.
