S.H.I.N.E. (Serving Health Information Needs of Elders)â€¦Your questions about Medicare (incl. Part D) and Medicaid insurances will be answered by meeting with our S.H.I.N.E. Counselors.Â A counselor will be available at the Senior Center on January 9, 16, 23 and 30.Â Call Julie at x104 to schedule an appointment.
Foot Care Clinicâ€¦ Certified Nurse Jean Reardon will be at the Senior Center on January 13 and 27.Â Cost is $31 at the Senior Center ($45 for home visit).Â Call Julie at ext.104 for an appointment.
Lunch At The CafÃ© Ellisonâ€¦ at the Duxbury Senior Center!Â Enjoy Chef Peter Deweyâ€™s delectable cuisine.Â ($4 for Duxbury seniors 60 years and up; $5 for all others).Â Lunches open to everyone, Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. (Kitchen closes at 12:30 p.m.).Â Call 781-934-5774.Â Reservations required 24 hours in advance.Â Â if you find that you cannot make it, please call to cancel, as food is ordered according to number of reservations made.Â Menus (subject to change):

Lifelong Learning Program â€“ 2009 Winter Season.Â Registration Dates:Â Wednesday, Jan. 7 through Friday, Jan. 9, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 13, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.Â Courses will begin Tuesday, Feb. 3.Â Registration will continue until Jan. 26 or until course has reached maximum enrollment.Â Waiting lists will be kept until start, of course.Â Payment is required at registration to hold your spot.
Free Hearing Screeningsâ€¦Mass Audiologyâ€™s Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist, Arnold Schertzer will be at the Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15 to provide free hearing screenings.Â If you have hearing aids, they will be cleaned and adjusted at no charge.Â For an appointment, call Julie at x104.
Representative Tom Calter will be available from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16 at the Senior Center to discuss any issues. Drop by, or for an individual appointment, please call Julie 781-934-5774, x104.
In need of a Notary Public? â€¦Lt. Susan James of the Duxbury Police Department is available as a Notary Public the third Friday of each month.Â Her next date at the Senior Center is January 16.Â To schedule an appointment with Lt. James, please call Julie (x104) at the Senior Center.
Fuel Assistance:Â This program provides help in paying heating bills.Â Please contact Lynn Madore
(Ext. 106) in the Outreach Office to schedule an appointment for completing a Fuel Assistance application.
Anyone 65 or older is protected from a shut-off. Call your utility company and make them aware of this.
Also, Lynn can assist you in filling out a Food Stamp application, if needed, and is also available for this service by appointment only on Mon., Wed. and Thu. from 9:00 to 2:30.
â€˜Sadie IIâ€™ transports Duxbury seniors to medical appointments within Kingston, Marshfield, Plymouth and Duxbury on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and Friday mornings, 8-11:30 a.m.Â Call Becky Ford at x117 at least 48 hours in advance for medical transportation reservations.
