The Duxbury boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams ran their last home meet of the season early last week in a tri-meet with Middleboro and Scituate.
The boys’ team had a successful afternoon, as it improved its Patriot League record to 5-1 with wins over Middleboro (25-32) and Scituate (15-41). Despite Middleboro’s Zach Madigan (15:33) and his teammate taking the top two slots, Duxbury’s Jonathan McKinley and Paul Dacey finished together in third (15:46), followed by Billy Jewel (5th/15:56), Mark Brust (6th/16:23) and Jason Angell (7th/16:33). The boys swept the top five spots against Scituate.
The Lady Dragons swept Middleboro 15-50, but lost a close race to Scituate, 25-30. Scituate’s Katie Sheehan and Duxbury’s Robin Radar battled for the top spot until Sheehan pulled away in the last 300 meters to win in a time of 19:04. Rader finished second (19:11), followed by Anne Steele (4th/19:43), Lauren Bittrich (5th/19:52), Liz Doherty (9th/21:40) and Casey Ducinski (10th/21:44).
Both Duxbury teams will now set their sights on Saturday’s McIntyre-Bay State Invitational race in Franklin Park.
