A “nuts and bolts” overview of the paperwork, expectations, and other information that is pertinent for a student-athlete at DHS will be given on that date. There will be a question and answer session at the end of the meeting to go over any unresolved questions concerning your child’s athletic endeavors at DHS. This introduction meeting is by no means mandatory, but will aid in answering several of the questions that often come up when your child is a participant in interscholastic athletics.

If you have any questions about the orientation, feel free to call or e-mail the athletic department.

This orientation will replace the one that has been annually held in early August.{sidebar id=1}

Memorial Day brings us to the beginning of the spring State tournament season. A reminder to all those who plan to attend tournament games: the MIAA has strict regulations concerning what spectators may bring to a contest. The following items are not permitted at any tournament games:

• Artificial noisemakers (horns, etc.)

• Balloons

• Confetti and pom-poms

• Posters and banners

If the site manager feels that something not mentioned above is also creating a nuisance at a contest site, the site manager may have all items removed.

The MIAA taunting rule will also be strictly enforced. There will be no tolerance for cheers or comments that are meant to ridicule or embarrass anyone participating in a contest (including officials.) Failure to honor this policy will result in expulsion from the game site. We also ask that parents of small children stay in the vicinity of their children and prevent them from running uncontrolled throughout the game site.{sidebar id=6}
