Registration for summer Recreation Dept. programs will be held May 5–16 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday through Friday only. There will be a Thursday night registration on May 8 from 6-8 p.m.

There will be a Saturday registration on May 10 from 8-11 a.m. There will be a $10 late fee charged for all registrations taken after May 16.

19th Annual Basketball Camp: The boys basketball camp will be offered for boys ages 8-10, June 23rd – June 27th. Boys ages 11-13, June 30th – July 3rd (Sun-Thurs). The girls camp will be offered for girls ages 8-13 and will run July 7th – 11th. Fee for this program is $195.

Adult Tennis: A summer evening tennis program will be offered to Duxbury adults who are at the beginner, advanced beginner and intermediate levels. Lessons are held twice a week during the month of July. Fee for this program is $80.

13th Annual Soccer Camp: A soccer camp for boys and girls ages 6-10 is once again offered this summer. The camp will run June 30 – July 3, 8am-11am each day at the Lower Alden Fields. Emphasis on the camp will be skill development and the fun of soccer. Camp coordinators will be Matthew Cushing and Mike Coven who bring impressive soccer resumes to the camp. Coach Cushing is currently the men’s head soccer coach at Wheaton College, where he has led the Lions to their most wins in school history. Mike Coven finishes his 35th year as men’s head soccer at Brandeis University. Coach Coven has brought Brandeis University a Division 3 National and an ECAC Championship. We are truly fortunate to be able to bring such talent to Duxbury to instruct our youth. Counselors include many local college stars. Space in this camp is limited. Fee for this program is $85.

Kids Tennis: Six weeks of lessons will be available to boys and girls ages 8-14. Classes are organized by ability; Beginner through Advanced. One hour lessons are held twice a week at two different locations, Alden and Tarkiln. (Parents choose time and location at time of registration). Classes begin June 30th and continue through August 8th. Fee for this program is $65.

Kids Camp: The ever popular Kids Camp is for boys and girls ages 6-12. Camp runs for seven weeks, June 23rd through August 8th. (NO CAMP ON JULY 4TH). Days of camp are: Monday through Friday from 8:30am-3:00pm. Tuesday camp (Beach Day) hours are 9am-2pm. Camp highlights include field trips, swimming at the Percy Walk Pool, arts & crafts and games among many other exciting activities. Children bring their lunch and beverage daily. The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-12. SPACE IS LIMITED TO 130 KIDS! Fee for this program is $695. Tuition includes cost of field trips with transportation.

Karate Kids: This program is offered to children in grades K thru 5. This four-week program will take place on Mondays from 4-4:50pm beginning 7/1 and continuing until 7/10 at the Whidden School of Fitness in Marshfield. The instructor, Roger Whidden has a black belt in karate, BS and MA in Education and Counseling, as well as being a local, National and World Tai Chi Champion. Class focus is on basic self-protection skills, discipline and athletic conditioning in a fun and creative atmosphere. Fee for this program is $45. Taiji/QiGong: This program is offered to individuals grades nine through seniors. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thrusdays from 9:10-10:40am, beginning on July 8th and continuing thru July 17th. Classes focus on simple movements in a meditative manner to enhance health and longevity. Classes held at Whidden School of Fitness, Marshfield, MA. Fee for this program is $45.

Over 18 Pick Up Basketball League:  The Recreation Department offers a two night per week pick up style basketball program for Duxbury residents 18 and over. This program will start on June 24th and run through August 7th. This program takes place at the outside courts behind DMS on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 6pm. No pre-registration is required. There is no fee for this program.

Summer Acting Workshop: This program will be available to children ages 6-15 and take place August 11-15. The workshop will be conducted by the South Shore School of Performing Arts in which participants will receive acting instruction and direction during an intense six hour a day workshop, finishing the week with a full-scale production of “Hairspray”. The program will be conducted at the Duxbury High School Auditorium from 9am-3pm. Fee for this program is $160.

Baseball Camp: This program is available for children ages 7 to 12. This camp will be held at the Keene St. fields Monday, July 21st through Thursday July 24th from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Emphasis on the camp will be a combination of skill development and fun. Coaching staff will include Steve Studley, Asst. Recreation Director, Head coach for Wentworth College baseball team, as well as local college and high school players. (All campers receive a t-shirt).  Fee for this program is $80.

Cooking for Kids: This six-week program will be offered once again for the summer season for children ages 7-12. The program will be held Tuesday evenings from 5:45-7:15pm beginning June 24 thru July 29. Class is limited to 12 students. Fee for this program is $85.

Adult Yoga: Classes are offered July 2-July 23, Wed 9-10:30am, 7-8:30 p.m. or Thurs 7-8:30 p.m. The classes consist of warm-up movements and gentle stretches, Hatha Yoga postures, breathing techniques, and guided relaxation. Continued study possible at completion of the classes. Classes take place at Whidden’s School of Fitness, Marshfield. Fee for this program is $45.

Tennis Camp: This program will be offered to children ages 8-14. This is a one-week camp and will take place Monday June 23 through Friday, June 27th from 8 a.m.-noon. Emphasis will be on conditioning, individual ball skills and fun! (All campers receive a t-shirt). Fee for this program is $110.

Cheerleading Camp: This program will be offered to girls ages 5-7 who are at beginner level, or want to improve their cheerleading skills. The program will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning July 15th and ending August 7th. Classes meet at the DMS Lower Gym from 9-10 a.m. Focus of the camp will be on fundamentals, motion technique, jumps and warm up dancing. Class is limited to 12 students. Fee for this program is $65.

Horsemanship Camp: This camp is for boys and girls ages 6 and up and will be held at Timber Hill Stables in Kingston. Participants learn horsemanship skills such as feeding, cleaning, and grooming of horses as well as daily care of the animals. Camp also includes a daily riding lesson. State of the art facility and professional, licensed riding instructors offer a wonderful, kid-friendly, safe environment. Camp hours are: 9 a.m.-noon. 4 Day Camp: $265 each session: June 24-June 27; July 29-August 1; August 19-August 22. 5 Day Camp: $325; July 7 – July 11.{sidebar id=6}
