First-year Coach Mike McCarthy is counting on four Duxbury grads to help the Wheaton College men’s lacrosse team improve on last year’s 4-10 record. Junior F.J. Buckley (DHS ’05) will anchor the Wheaton defense, while returning junior Jeff Gomer (DHS ’05) will handle face-off responsibilities. Gomer earned All-Conference honors a year ago after placing second in the league in draw victories (116) and face-off winning percentage (.577). He also tied for the team lead with 56 ground balls, tying for seventh in the Pilgrim League.

Junior pitcher Peter Bizinkauskas (DHS ’05) and his Babson College baseball team will get their season started on Friday when they play Salve Regina in Ft. Meyers, FL… Sophomore Kevin Gould (DHS ’05) recovered from a shoulder injury just in time to score Bentley College’s first goal of the season in an 11-5 win over Catawba in Salisbury, NC on Saturday. Gould finished the day with a pair of goals and an assist. Freshmen Troy Neville (DHS ’07) and Brian Pineau (BCHS ’07) also made the Falcons’ roster, with Neville winning 3 of 5 face-offs in his college debut…

Georgetown sophomore Chris Nixon (DHS ’06) was credited with 3 ground balls as the Hoyas knocked off St. Johns, 13-7, last week in DC… Freshman Ben Bray (DHS ’07) finished second in his heat in the 800-meter run at the UAA Indoor Track Championships over the weekend at Case Western Reserve… The Bridgewater State softball team with junior Rachael Sprague (DHS ’04) and sophomore Jamie Ducinski (DHS ’05) gets its season underway in Kissimmee, FL this weekend against Rowan and Allegheny…

Senior tri-captain Bethany Nardone (DHS ’04) turned in a solid defensive effort in Babson’s 15-11 win over Bates on Sunday in Lewiston, ME. Earlier in the week Nardone was moved up to attack and scored her second career goal in an 18-2 romp over Plymouth State…

Junior Peter Antons (DHS ’05) won his #3 doubles match, 8-5, to help #56-ranked Indiana U. knock off #30-ranked NC State, 4-3, helping to raise the Hoosier’s record to 9-2… Sophomore Alec Siefert (DHS ’06) had a pair of goals and an assist in Ithaca’s 17-4 win over Oneonta last week. Siefert is the #2 goal scorer for Ithaca with 6 goals in 3 games… Freshman Kerri Connolly (DHS ’07) fired a 74 last Monday to finish in third place individually while leading the University of Maryland women's golf team at the Cuthbert Cup women's golf tournament hosted by the College of Charleston on Kiawah Island. Connolly had a 36-hole total of 145 heading into Tuesday's final round that ended up being cancelled due top inclement weather… Richmond junior Lexie Marrocco (DHS ’05) scored 2 goals and assisted on another, but it wasn’t enough to prevent goaltending sister Erica (DHS ’06) from absorbing the loss, as the Spiders dropped a 16-15 decision to Virginia Tech… Sophomore Matt Fuchs (DHS ’06) had 3 shots in Yale’s 11-9 loss to UMBC on Saturday in Baltimore…
