Nearly nine months after the old police station was demolished, the land will now be put out for bid.
Scott Lambiase, director of municipal services, said he expects an invitation for bid (IFB) will soon be available regarding the plot of land on West Street where the Duxbury Police Station sat for over 45 years. The station building was officially decommissioned in April 2013 and all operations were moved to the current station on Mayflower Street. The building was demolished in November 2013.
The IFB document will be made available on July 23 and bids will be due approximately 30 days later to comply with state laws governing the disposition of land, Lambiase said.
The current assessed value of the property is $204,000.
“The lot is for residential use,” Lambiase said. “I expect a single family dwelling will be built there by the highest bidder.”
