A Duxbury police sergeant suffered minor injuries on Sunday evening while escorting the girls’ hockey team home from winning the state championship game.
Sergeant Dennis Symmonds and another motorcycle officer were escorting the team home from the TD Garden in Boston after the girls won their fourth consecutive championship.
While escorting the team and a caravan of vehicles carrying team supporters down Washington Street, Symmonds lost control of his motorcycle after taking evasive action to avoid construction debris in the roadway. No other vehicles were involved.
Symmonds was treated at the scene by Duxbury Fire Department paramedics and was transported to South Shore Hospital with minor injuries.
The circumstances of the crash were under investigation as of press time.
