Duxbury's Annual Town Meeting is now underway. Please stay tuned for updates throughout the day. 

3:31 p.m. After nearly 2 1/2 hours of discussion on the four motions inside ATM Article 5, Operating Budget, Town Meeting moves on to Article 6, Operating Budget. Questions and comments included the school's laptop program, town-wide bus transportation, and the process thorugh which Town Meeting is presenting line items. 

11:52 a.m. In keeping with several changes at this year's town meeting, Article 5 has been divided into several motions, all of which will be read aloud in succession, without stopping for discussion on individual motinos. If voters request a hold on a particular motion. This change is intended to move the article quickly and more efficiently. 

11:11 a.m.: Town Meeting voters pass an indefinite postponement of STM Article 11, which requests a change from electing the Town Clerk to appointing the Town Clerk. Several residents got up to discuss the the article, but were stopped by a motion to move the question of indefinite postponement- effectively ending all discussion. 

The Special Town Meeting began at 9:40 Saturday after retiring Town Clerk Nancy Oates received a number of resolutions from State Representatives Josh Cutler and Tom Calter, Congressman Keating and Senator Hedlund. 

Several questions arose as the the specific allocations for Special Town Meeting Article 1, which included several appropriations, including funds for extraordinary cleaning expenses as the new police station located on Mayflower Street. Town Meeting approved all Union Contract motions under Article 3.
