Some folks who are too lazy to think spend too much time reading. Reminds me of something the French writer Joubert said: ÒThe worst thing about new books is that they keep us from reading the old ones.Ó

Town managers' union PDF Print E-mail

We've been busy the past day or so tracking down information about the new manager's union at town hall. It's called the Duxbury Professional Employees Association. We have a couple stories posted to the site already and will have more coverage in this week's issue.

While the existence of the new employee association is something that has been going on for quite some time, the news has flown under the radar until now and wasn't made public until the Clipper first reported it Thursday.

I've spoken to a number of people at town hall and elsewhere over the past 24 hours. Few want to talk on the record, and others don't want to talk at all. (I had one person cancel a pre-arranged interview this morning at the last minute.) It's certainly understandable given that negotiations are at a sensitive point. Neither side wants to do or say anything that might interfere or even be construed as trying to sway the process one way or another. Others fear retribution from the town, or from the union.

But we're still plugging away trying to get as much information as we can. This is certainly an issue that affects lots of people and not just at town hall. The Clipper has filed a Public Records request this morning seeking certain documents from the town about the issue. We'll keep you posted on the response.

** This thread discusses the Content article: Town managers' union **

Is this really our business? These are workers within an organization that belongs to a number of unions. What axe does the Clipper have to grind here? Try to behave in a professional manner and not ruin the progress both sides have made. This sounds very natsy,
your way of reporting. Maybe that Mr. Macnab is behind this with you?
